Two Armenian Youth Arrested After Attack on Armenian Quarter in Jerusalem
According to the Jerusalem Armenian Quarter Protection and Preservation Movement, "Two of our boys, Paul Jernazyan and Petik 'Khach' Kirakosyan, have been officially arrested. They will be brought to court tomorrow, and their interests will be represented by attorneys hired by the Jerusalem Armenian Quarter Protection and Preservation Movement," the statement said.
The movement urges the Armenian Patriarchate to use all possible means, through their connections with the police, municipality, and government, to secure the immediate release of the boys.
Earlier, over 30 masked armed individuals stormed the area of the "Cow Garden" in the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem, launching a brutal attack on bishops, priests, deacons, and other representatives of the Armenian community. Priests, students from the Armenian Theological Academy, and local Armenians sustained serious injuries.
Members of the movement reported that these individuals attempted to enter and take control of the area unlawfully. However, the clergy and the youth defended the land. The police subsequently detained the two Armenian youths.
