Police Officer Enriched Illegally by 9.7 Million Drams in One Year Certified: Ioannisyan
Police officer enriched illegally by 9.7 million drams in one year has been certified: This was reported by Daniel Ioannisyan, founder and program coordinator of the civic organization "Citizen Awareness."
"Today, the certification of department heads continued at the police, during which, thanks to the votes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees, the head of the Kumayri department in Gyumri, Lieutenant Colonel Karen Gevorgyan, was certified, despite the fact that:
1. He and his wife, during the year 2023, have enriched themselves by approximately 9.7 million drams aside from declared income. This means that the declared income for just 2022 was at least $25,000 less than the declared expenses and improvements in their asset situation (he started to claim that the money was a gift after receiving assistance from high-ranking police officers, but this is not reflected in his declarations).
2. In 2022, his wife bought an apartment, which was presented in the declaration as a gift. Regarding this case, the lieutenant colonel, who has a background in law, insists that she did not purchase the apartment but received it as a gift; however, she also gave $13,000 to the donor of the house as a gift.
3. He sold his 2016 Ford Escape for at least 6 million drams (according to him, $13,000 to $15,000 at 2021 exchange rates), but wrote the sale price as 2 million drams in his declaration. Then Prime Minister Pashinyan wonders why "people come to us with problems, we say there is no solution, then they go and solve it in their own ways... they take bribes wherever they can." Well, why shouldn't they take it if those who enrich themselves without justification are even certified and promoted to higher salaries?
By the way, the problem is not the head of the Kumayri department. The issue is how the members of the certification committee from the police were "advising" him on how to dodge questions from the "Sorosists" and how they supported his certification despite all these circumstances.
Moreover, yes, we are sending a report about the crime of illegal enrichment,
" he wrote.
