Bayramov Comments on India's Arms Sale to Armenia
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister has commented on the issue of India's arms sale to Armenia.
“India has not linked its arms sales to Armenia with Azerbaijan and Turkey's relations with Pakistan, nor with the projects being implemented alongside them. The position is that this is not a stance directed at us; it is a commercial approach, a demand set for the development of the defense industry. This is the official position. There is the factor of long-term occupation and military conflict. Such a step, while there is a fragile and historically rare chance for peace in the region, harms the process and further encourages the Armenian side's 'revanchists',” said Bayramov.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister noted, “We are aware of the agreements related to India's supply of arms to Armenia, but I want to say that India's official position is that it never links the supply of arms to Armenia with the fact that Azerbaijan is friendly with Turkey and Pakistan. They see it as commerce, not as a diversion towards Azerbaijan. This is their official position.”
