It is Important for the Border Demarcation Process to Be Predictable: Mirzoyan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, stated that the three principles proposed in the negotiations regarding the peace treaty with Azerbaijan are in accordance with international law and are legitimate.
"We must be guided by public statements and publicly confirmed agreements," said Mirzoyan, adding that announced agreements are sometimes reaffirmed and at times inconsistently reiterated. "For this reason, I want to reiterate a positive assessment: there is a real opportunity, but it depends on a number of factors, including Azerbaijan's constructiveness."
Mirzoyan also spoke about the Soviet maps that serve as the basis for the border demarcation, emphasizing, "It is extremely important for us that the ongoing border demarcation process is predictable, and its principles and foundations are fixed in the peace treaty. The mention of maps is for us a reflection of the need to ensure certain predictability."
