Three Preconditions for Peace in Gaza According to Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has outlined three conditions for ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip: the destruction of Hamas, the demilitarization of Gaza, and the de-radicalization of Palestinian society. He expressed these views in an article for The Wall Street Journal. The information was reported by TASS.

“Hamas must be destroyed, Gaza must be demilitarized, and Palestinian society must be de-radicalized. These are the three preconditions for peace between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors in the Gaza Strip,” Netanyahu wrote.

According to him, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and many other countries support Israel's intention to eliminate Palestinian radical movements. “To achieve this goal, it is necessary to eliminate their military capabilities and end their political dominance over the Gaza Strip,” the Israeli Prime Minister noted.

Netanyahu stated that for the demilitarization of the enclave, it is essential to “create a temporary security zone along the perimeter of the Gaza Strip and a supervisory mechanism at the Gaza-Egypt border” to prevent the smuggling of weapons into Gaza.

In the article, the Prime Minister of the Jewish state also emphasized that Palestinian civil society “needs to be transformed so that its people support the fight against terrorism, rather than finance it.”

“When Hamas is destroyed, Gaza is demilitarized, and Palestinian society begins the process of de-radicalization, Gaza can be revitalized, and the prospects for broader peace in the Middle East will become a reality,” Netanyahu concluded.
