Aliyev on Strengthening Trust Between Azerbaijan and Armenia
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, stated during his meeting with Maria Peichinovich Buric, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, in Baku, that the Council of Europe is a very good platform for strengthening trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Aliyev described the joint statement released by the Azerbaijani presidential administration and the office of the Armenian Prime Minister the day before as a demonstration of mutual political will to promote a mutual peace agenda and regulate relations between Baku and Yerevan.
Maria Peichinovich Buric emphasized her appreciation for the joint statement from the Azerbaijani presidential administration and the Armenian Prime Minister's office, specifically the steps aimed at building trust. She highlighted that the Council of Europe is ready to contribute to the process of establishing trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
It should be reminded that a statement was released yesterday indicating that Azerbaijan will return 32 captured Armenians to Armenia in exchange for 2 Azerbaijanis.
