Peskov on Putin's Participation in Presidential Elections
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was asked by journalists during a briefing whether Russian President Vladimir Putin intends to participate in the upcoming elections. This information is reported by gazeta.ru.
Earlier, the Federation Council set the presidential elections in Russia for March 17, 2024. Furthermore, remote electronic voting will take place only in those regions of the country where it has been previously conducted to avoid risks.
“So far, there has been no announcement from Putin; let's be patient,” the Kremlin spokesman said in response to the pertinent question.
Peskov was also asked how the Kremlin envisions the presidential campaign's course and outcome, particularly what number of candidates, participation, and percentage favorable to the winner would be considered optimal. The press secretary responded that he considers this question inappropriate. He emphasized that all rights are reserved to all citizens in the context of the electoral campaign, according to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.
