Alen Simonyan on the Activities of Russian Peacekeepers in Artsakh
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, stated that Russian peacekeepers have not done anything in Nagorno-Karabakh. He expressed this opinion during a conversation with journalists.
“I mourn for the Russian soldiers who died after the events of September 19 in Artsakh, but let’s state one thing: these soldiers were killed 2-3 hours after the end of hostilities. Peacekeepers have done nothing in NK,” Simonyan said.
According to the Speaker, the war was halted at the moment it could be. “I am confident that the Russian peacekeepers did not know they would be unable to act; the Azerbaijanis simply pushed them out of any location, and that’s how they were driven away, but no one knew about this,” he added.
Simonyan further mentioned that Russia is trying to maintain control over the situation without realizing that it has long been lost. “During the recent events, attacks on Artsakh were carried out from 15 different locations, while the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a statement calling on Armenia and Azerbaijan... Armenia was being drawn in to somehow respond, but no, not at all,” noted Simonyan.
