‘The Artsakh issue has been used to prevent the establishment of a state in Armenia,’ says Pashinyan
“The Artsakh issue has been used for years by certain forces for a purpose: to ensure that there is no state in Armenia, and this conviction deepens for me,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a Q&A session in the Parliament.
According to him, there has not been an Artsakh issue since the 1996 Lisbon Summit, and we have not faced that reality. “This is one of the deep-rooted problems, including that of our government,” he added.
Pashinyan mentioned that he has had numerous statements regarding the term ‘self-determination.’ “I want to remind everyone of the document adopted at the Lisbon Summit, the chairman’s declaration, which stated that the Artsakh issue should be resolved within the framework of the right to self-determination, meaning that Artsakh will receive autonomy within Azerbaijan,” he explained. According to the Prime Minister, not everyone has combined the terms with the perceptions of the structures and bodies that created them.
