Mirzoyan Discusses Lavrov's Remarks on the Independence of Armenia's Ambassador in Vienna
During a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan commented on what he described as a possible technical misunderstanding during his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Earlier, a video was published showing the beginning of the Mirzoyan-Lavrov meeting, where the Russian Foreign Minister asked whether the Armenian ambassador in Vienna operates independently.
“I have seen that part of the meeting that was circulated by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Most likely, it was a misunderstanding, just a technical misunderstanding. Sergey Lavrov thought that the initiative for the meeting came from our permanent representative in the OSCE, whereas, according to my information, this is not the case. I was stating that we did not initiate that meeting,” said Mirzoyan.
It is worth noting that the foreign ministers of Armenia and Russia held their meeting in Skopje, where they had traveled to participate in the 30th session of the OSCE Ministerial Council.
