The U.S. Will Not Allow Enemies to Divide Us, Says Pentagon Chief
The United States will not allow Russia to win the war against Ukraine or Hamas to prevail against Israel, and will continue to support both, said Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, emphasizing that the U.S. is the "most powerful country in the world" while the American military is "the strongest in the world."
"We will also not allow our enemies to divide us or weaken us," he stated.
The Pentagon chief added that the U.S. is capable of fulfilling its commitments to allies and can send assistance to both Israel and Ukraine simultaneously. He highlighted that Russia's war against Ukraine poses a "challenge to NATO allies."
"We cannot afford to stand on the sidelines," he said.
Austin revealed that the U.S. has increased funding for ammunition production by 50% due to high consumption rates of American shells in Ukraine. He noted that during Joe Biden's administration, production of artillery ammunition in the U.S. has quadrupled.
"As we work towards stabilizing the situation in the Middle East, Iran is escalating tensions. Following attacks on U.S. military personnel in Iraq and Syria, our forces have repeatedly struck facilities in Iraq and eastern Syria used by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran-aligned militias. We will not tolerate attacks on American personnel. These attacks must cease," the Pentagon chief stated.
