Hamas to Release Hostages with Russian Citizenship in Gesture of Gratitude
Hamas will also free those who hold Russian citizenship among the Israeli hostages, according to Musa Abu Marzouk, the deputy head of the Palestinian radical group's political bureau.
“Today we will release the hostages with Russian citizenship as a sign of gratitude for the position of the Russian leadership,” Israeli media outlets quote Marzouk.
Earlier, Israel received a list of 10 Israelis who are to be freed from captivity on Wednesday, according to Israeli media reports. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that it had received the list of kidnapped Israelis that Hamas plans to release on Wednesday, The Times of Israel reports.
The group of hostages set to be released on Wednesday will be the sixth since a ceasefire began between Israel and Hamas. Initially, the ceasefire was set for four days, and then the regime was extended for another two days.
The publication reminds that, under the terms of the agreement, the ceasefire can be extended for a total of 10 days, requiring Hamas to release at least 10 hostages daily, while Israel is to release three Palestinian detainees from its prisons for each hostage that is freed.
