Putin and Aliyev to Discuss Integration Issues of Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh in Bishkek: Putin's Assistant
Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on October 12 in Kyrgyzstan to discuss the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the topic of Russian peacekeepers. This was stated by Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s assistant for international affairs, to reporters.
"A conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is scheduled for October 12. Of course, they will discuss issues related to the situation around Karabakh, including the peaceful integration of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh into the legal framework of Azerbaijan, as well as the preservation of internationally recognized rights and freedoms. The Russian peacekeeping forces are prepared to facilitate this. We hope that the President will discuss the situation regarding the Russian peacekeepers with Aliyev," Ushakov added.
The Kremlin representative reminded that the mandate of the peacekeeping contingent expires in December 2025. "Various options for the further deployment of our forces will be considered, including in the context of ensuring the potential return of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh following the events known from September," Ushakov stated.
