Russia Plans to Promptly Open Consulate in Syunik
Yesterday, a meeting was held in Meghri between the head of the primary group of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the mayor of Meghri regarding the opening of a Russian consulate in Kapan.
According to a statement from the Russian Embassy in Armenia, the prospects for the "prompt opening" of the new consular establishment in the Syunik region were discussed, which will significantly facilitate the access of Russian citizens living in southern Armenia to consular services.
"Additionally, it was noted that the new consulate will contribute to the further strengthening of Russian-Armenian relations and stabilizing the situation in the region, as well as promote the development of cultural-humanitarian, trade-economic, and interregional cooperation," the statement said.
A consulate of Iran has been operating in Kapan for nearly a year, and France has also appointed an honorary consul in the Syunik region, as announced this week by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Catherine Colonna, in Yerevan.
