Some Armenians Who Left Artsakh Plan to Return, Zakharova Says
“Russia has information that some of the Armenians who left Artsakh plan to return if their security is ensured and the right conditions are created,” stated Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. “If this is the case, maintaining contact with Azerbaijan, we will support this process as well,” Zakharova added.
At the same time, she reminded that the Prime Minister of Armenia recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan during the summits held in Prague under EU mediation in 2022 and this year in Brussels. “However, it seems that the Armenian leader has forgotten or has not mentioned the issue of ensuring the rights and security of the people; that is a fact. This is not enshrined in any document, and it hasn’t even been verbally discussed; these steps have fundamentally affected the Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh. Now, after all this, we will negotiate the issues related to the peacekeepers stationed in Artsakh with Baku,” she concluded.
