Baku Will Not Send Troops to Syunik to Create a Corridor, Says Azerbaijani Ambassador in the UK
The Azerbaijani ambassador in the UK, Elin Suleymanov, has stated that Baku aims to establish road and rail connections with Nakhchivan through Armenia's Syunik province, but will not send troops to achieve this goal.
“Azerbaijan says it wants to establish road and rail connections with the exclave (the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic), but it will not send troops there,” Suleymanov said in an interview with Reuters.
According to him, the idea is to reach an agreement on the opening of transport corridors through negotiations, while “no one is planning to forcibly open anything.” He emphasized, “This contradicts the objective. No one is going to deploy troops there; we do not intend to invade Armenia,” the diplomat added.
