Artsakh Authorities Decide to Allow Transport of Humanitarian Cargo via Akna
The authorities of Artsakh have decided to permit the transportation of humanitarian cargo via the Akna-Stepanakert road. This was announced in an official statement from the Artsakh Information Headquarters.
It is emphasized that this concerns the simultaneous transportation of humanitarian cargo of foreign origin via the Berdzor corridor, utilizing the Goris-Stepanakert highway and the Akna-Stepanakert road by vehicles of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
“Dear compatriots, the crisis resulting from Azerbaijan's blockade of Artsakh is deepening day by day. The government is organizing the procurement of grain and the supply of flour to bakeries under tight conditions, and unfortunately, it is not always possible to ensure the daily allocation of 200 grams of bread to citizens as stipulated in the coupon system,” the statement reads.
“Considering the deepening disaster in the country and the security situation, the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh have decided to accept the joint proposal of the Stepanakert office of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the command of the Russian peacekeeping forces to simultaneously transport humanitarian cargo via the Berdzor corridor and the Akna-Stepanakert road using vehicles from the International Committee of the Red Cross (with foreign origin cargo).”
The organization of this process is essential not only to mitigate the dangers threatening the lives and health of our citizens but also to ensure the further transportation of humanitarian cargo through the Berdzor corridor.
Additionally, it is informed that mediators are working to organize meetings with official representatives from Artsakh and Azerbaijan to alleviate the tense humanitarian and security situation in the republic,” the statement concludes.
