Azerbaijan Agrees to Simultaneously Open Lachin and Aghdam Roads, Says Hajizade
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizade has addressed the issues surrounding the blockade of the Lachin corridor, the opening of the Aghdam-Askeran road, and the entry of cargo from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) into Artsakh.
“Regarding the simultaneous use of the Lachin road and the Aghdam-Khankendi (Aghdam-Stepanakert) road, as Azerbaijan has noted during high-level communications with the U.S. and other partners, Azerbaijan has agreed to the simultaneous use of these two routes through the mediation of the ICRC. Unfortunately, the implementation of this agreement is hindered by the so-called regime that Armenia has created in the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) region,” Hajizade stated.
“We reiterate that the Azerbaijani side is ready to create conditions for the transportation of cargo along the Aghdam-Khankendi (Aghdam-Stepanakert) road in parallel while complying with border and customs procedures at the Lachin border checkpoint,” he added.
