Serbian Tennis Player Novak Djokovic Wins US Open
Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic has won the US Open. In the final, Djokovic defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev. This is reported by Armsport.
The match lasted 3 hours and 16 minutes and concluded with scores of 6:3, 7:6 (7:5), 6:3. For Djokovic, this Grand Slam title marked the 24th of his career. Thus, he has moved to first place in the number of Grand Slam tournaments won, tying with Margaret Court.
Previously, Djokovic shared second place with Serena Williams (23). Following them are Rafael Nadal and Steffi Graf (22 each), as well as Roger Federer (20).
This victory is Djokovic's fourth at the US Open. Only Roger Federer, Jimmy Connors, and Pete Sampras have won more at this tournament, with 5 titles each. Rafael Nadal and John McEnroe also have 4 victories.
The 36-year-old Djokovic has also become the oldest champion at the US Open, surpassing Ken Rosewall's record (35 years old).
For winning the US Open, Djokovic will receive $3 million, while Medvedev will take home $1.5 million.
