Surent Papikyan's Visit to Cyprus Postponed
The visit of the Minister of Defense of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, to Cyprus has been postponed, confirmed Aram Torosyan, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense, in a conversation with Aysor.am.
"I confirm that the Minister of Defense's visit to the Republic of Cyprus has been postponed," Torosyan stated. He did not mention the reasons behind the postponement.
According to a statement released by the Press and Information Bureau of the Government of Cyprus, the visit was postponed due to the deterioration of the situation in the region.
It is noted that Armenian and Cypriot Defense Ministers Suren Papikyan and Michalis Georgallas had a phone conversation today, during which, according to the Press and Information Bureau of the Cypriot government, it was mentioned that the visit would be postponed "due to the worsening of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations."
The negotiations were scheduled to take place today in Nicosia.
