New $1 Billion Aid Package: Blinken Meets Zelensky
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 6 during his official visit to Kyiv. In a message on his Telegram channel, the Ukrainian president expressed gratitude to U.S. representatives for their regular official visits.
During the negotiations, Volodymyr Zelensky provided detailed information about the situation in the combat zone of the military conflict, as well as the defensive needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including long-range weapons, artillery, and armored vehicles. Zelensky also highlighted the necessity for enhanced air defense systems in Ukraine and support for the energy sector from the U.S., particularly on the eve of winter.
The parties also discussed possible ways to implement President Zelensky's peace plan. This marks Antony Blinken's third visit to Ukraine since the onset of the military conflict. During his visit, he announced a new aid package of $1 billion, with $655 million designated for military purposes. The total amount includes previously announced weapons and ammunition from the Pentagon, including depleted uranium munitions.
