EU Membership Negotiations for Ukraine to Start by Year-End, Says Lithuania's Foreign Minister
Negotiations for Ukraine's membership in the European Union should begin as soon as possible. This was announced by Lithuania's Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, who took part in a meeting of Baltic and Nordic foreign ministers in Latvia.
“We hope that the negotiations regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU will start by the end of this year,” the minister stated.
Landsbergis believes that Ukraine's membership in the EU will contribute to addressing security issues on the continent.
“The expansion of the EU is a long-term security issue that we can offer to Ukraine and guarantee for ourselves,” said the diplomat.
