Azerbaijan Must Fulfill Its Obligations: Marukyan
Armenia's special envoy Edmon Marukyan has made a statement on his Twitter account, recalling the contents of the trilateral declaration signed on November 9, 2020, by the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Azerbaijan, and the President of Russia.
“.....The Lachin corridor (5 km wide), which will ensure the connection between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia while bypassing the city of Shushi, will remain under the control of the peacekeeping contingent of the Russian Federation. According to the agreement reached between the parties, a plan for the construction of a new route along the Lachin corridor will be determined within the next three years, which will ensure communication between Nagorno-Karabakh and the Republic of Armenia and will be monitored by the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
The Republic of Azerbaijan guarantees the safe movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions along the Lachin corridor. This statement shows that the Lachin corridor is the only route connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with the Republic of Armenia, which has been agreed upon and signed by the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Azerbaijan, and the President of the Russian Federation.
The first step in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis is the implementation of Article 6 of the Trilateral Declaration from November 9, 2020, and the execution of the interim decision of the International Court of Justice between February and July 2023. Azerbaijan must fulfill its obligations and lift the blockade of the Lachin corridor,” Marukyan stated.
