“The Chaotic Construction of Attics Must Stop,” Says Tigran Avinyan
The Yerevan municipality has invalidated the construction permit for an attic in the multi-apartment building at 39 Tumanyan Street, which was previously granted in violation of the law. This information comes from a working consultation at the Yerevan City Hall.
Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan emphasized that measures will be taken starting today at that address. “Many issues are related to the construction permits issued in the past; they have caused significant problems in the city. Such issues exist in Fizgorodok and Ajapnyak. Residents rightfully complain. Regarding attics, the residents of that specific building should have given their consent according to the established procedure, and that procedure was not followed,” Avinyan stated.
He highlighted that the “chaotic” construction of attics must be stopped. “Everyone wants to add another floor to their roof. Many people have built entire houses instead of just one floor. However, in general, individual applications for attic constructions should not be considered. If the Yerevan municipality does not propose anything in its plan, no additional floor should be constructed on any roof,” he stated, adding that there should be competent solutions to these issues.
