Turkey's Special Envoy Serdar Kılıç Joins Lobbying Campaign Against Disney Plus
In the process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey, Turkey's special envoy Serdar Kılıç has also made a statement on Twitter regarding the cancellation of Disney Plus's broadcast of the series 'Atatürk'. This was reported by ermenihaber.am.
As a reminder, according to news circulating in the Turkish media since August 1, Disney Plus has allegedly succumbed to pressure from the Armenian lobby, which is why it will not broadcast the series 'Atatürk', dedicated to Turkey's centenary.
On August 2, statements aimed at Disney Plus's decision were also made by the leader of the Turkish 'Memleket' party, Muharrem İnce, as well as Özgür Özel, the head of the parliamentary faction of the 'Republican People's Party' (CHP), and spokesperson of the 'Iyi' party, Kürşad Zorlu.
Earlier reports had indicated that Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and the head of the National Intelligence Organization, İbrahim Kalın, were personally intervening in the matter.
Thematic responses on Twitter have continued to emerge. Currently, the hashtag #Disneyiptalet (meaning 'Cancel Disney') is trending in Turkey.
