Scandal Over Putin's Remarks About Stalin Leads to Call for Russian Ambassador in Poland

The Russian ambassador to Poland has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to President Putin's comments regarding Stalin's transfer of lands to Poland.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced that Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreyev has been invited to the foreign ministry. President Vladimir Putin stated yesterday during a security council meeting that Poland received 'significant lands in the West, the territories of Germany' thanks to the decision of the USSR and Joseph Stalin.

According to Putin, Polish leaders 'are counting on creating a coalition under NATO's auspices, intervening in Ukraine's military conflict, and seizing a larger piece,' essentially meaning 'taking part of Belarusian lands.'

'Stalin was a war criminal responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Poles. Historical truth is not up for debate. The Ambassador of the Russian Federation will be summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,' Morawiecki wrote on Twitter.
