The European Court of Human Rights Reaffirms Its Decision on Unblocking the Lachin Corridor

On July 12, 2023, the European Court of Human Rights, after examining the request of the Armenian government to impose interim measures against Azerbaijan regarding the unblocking of the Lachin Corridor, decided to reaffirm its ruling made on December 21, 2022. The court obligated Azerbaijan to take all necessary and sufficient measures to ensure the movement of seriously ill individuals who require medical assistance in Armenia via the Lachin Corridor, as well as to guarantee the safe passage of persons who are homeless or in need of means of subsistence along the route.

This ruling by the European Court of Human Rights effectively confirms the necessity of implementing its decision from December 21, 2022, under the current circumstances, and it must be enforced by Azerbaijan.
