Prisoner Found Dead at Armavir Penitentiary Hanged from Grating

In a reported case of suicide at the Armavir penitentiary, authorities have found a prisoner deceased. This information was revealed by the Ministry of Justice’s penitentiary service.

“On June 21, 2023, around 07:00, a prisoner who had been kept in isolation for a prolonged period was discovered dead in a solitary confinement cell at the Armavir penitentiary of the Republic of Armenia. The deceased, born in 1979, was identified as V.G., who was charged under Articles 166, Part 2, Item 1 of the RA Criminal Code,” the statement said.

It was also noted that the Armavir regional investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee has initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident.
