Mother and child were guests in that house: details of the tragic incident
On June 1, a criminal case was initiated after a woman attempted to jump from a building with her infant child in Yerevan. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
At 12:25 PM on June 1, 2023, the operational management center of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs received a report that a mother and child had fallen from one of the floors of a building on Svachyan Street in Yerevan.
It was revealed that a 29-year-old resident of the southwestern district of Yerevan, while visiting an apartment on the sixth floor of the aforementioned building on Svachyan Street, committed suicide by throwing herself out of the bedroom window with her approximately 11-month-old son.
Later that same day, the Saint Astvatsamayr Medical Center reported that the child, who had been transported from the scene, had died without regaining consciousness.
In relation to the incident, a criminal case was initiated at the Investigative Division of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district under Article 155, Part 1 (murder) and Article 162, Part 1 (inciting suicide) of the RA Criminal Code. Investigations were conducted at the scene.
Forensic examinations were ordered for the deceased. Relatives of the woman and residents of the building where the incident occurred were interrogated as witnesses. The preliminary investigation continues, and measures are being taken to clarify the causes and circumstances surrounding the incident.
