Leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan to Meet in Chișinău This Weekend, According to the U.S.
The United States expects an effective meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Chișinău this weekend, announced Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State.
"The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet in Chișinău with our European partners this weekend. We hope this will be an effective step towards negotiations rather than applying violence to resolve issues," Miller stated.
According to him, "aggressive rhetoric can only lead to the continuation of past violence, whereas constructive dialogue—both public and private—can create peace, opportunities, and hope."
"The United States is ready to support both sides in their efforts to sign a durable and dignified peace agreement," Miller emphasized.
