The opposition has long lost its political weight, stated the Speaker of the National Assembly during a conversation with journalists.

“Any initiative, even regarding my resignation, can already create an opportunity for them to become active. I am glad that I have given them a reason to find a topic of political activity,” said Simonyan.

Simonyan congratulated the opposition for choosing to step out of the sidelines and stated with “sorrow” that they will remain on the periphery.

When asked whether the issue of Simonyan's resignation is being discussed within the team, he responded negatively, assuring that there has been no change in his team’s attitude towards him after the incident.

According to Simonyan, such rumors are spread by those who want to weaken their power. He mentioned that he is used to being constantly under scrutiny, although he is already tired of it.

He believes that the opposition could create a different platform to activate, for example, by establishing some platform related to the Lachin corridor utilizing international previous experience. “I regret it, but they will remain on the sidelines,” emphasized the Speaker of the National Assembly.
