Video: Meeting Between Lentsov and Papikyan Takes Place - Details
On April 28, Armenian Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan met with the newly appointed commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, General-Colonel Alexander Lentsov. Suren Papikyan announced this via a post on the social media platform Facebook.
Present at the meeting were Sergey Kopyrkin, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia to Armenia, Defense Attaché Colonel Igor Shcherbakov, and former commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Major-General Andrey Volkov.
The Armenian Minister of Defense congratulated General-Colonel Alexander Lentsov on assuming his new post and wished him success in his peacekeeping mission.
The parties discussed the current operational situation around Nagorno-Karabakh and the challenges faced in the peacekeeping force's area of responsibility, as well as several issues aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Papikyan emphasized the necessity of the unwavering implementation of all the points of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and highlighted the importance of efforts directed towards the prompt unblocking of the Lachin corridor.
