It Is Important to Listen Not to Those Who Have Never Been Mediators, but to Baku and Yerevan: Zakharova
The spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, commented on Armenian-Azerbaijani peace negotiations during a weekly briefing, addressing a DW article claiming that Azerbaijan is preparing to attack Armenia.
“Firstly, it is crucial to listen not to those who have never been mediators in the resolution process and have not reached practical solutions, but to listen to Baku and Yerevan. We must hear and act within the interests of both countries. Yes, there are complications and extreme escalations, but the parties can agree; the essential thing is to create and support the necessary platform. These statements are evidence of the EU's unconstructive objectives; Brussels is not interested in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and exacerbates the tensions between Baku and Yerevan. There is no example of successful mediation by the West, particularly by the EU,” emphasized Zakharova.
It has been noted that the German publication Deutsche Welle discussed the issue of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. According to the article, the 2020 ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan is fragile, and the peaceful residents of Armenia fear a new escalation.
