This Fatal Incident Highlights the Importance of Progress in Negotiations for Achieving Stability: Toivo Klaar
The deadly incident today underscores the importance of progress in negotiations to achieve stability and a just peace. This comment was made by Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, in relation to yesterday's diversionary attack carried out by Azerbaijanis. Klaar also reported that he is currently in Baku.
“Back in Baku. I look forward to substantial negotiations with the leadership of Azerbaijan after the Munich meetings to advance the peace process. Today’s fatal incident highlights the crucial need for progress in negotiations aimed at achieving stability and a just peace,” stated the EU Special Representative.
It should be noted that yesterday morning, around 10:00 AM, a diversionary group of the Azerbaijani armed forces targeted and opened fire on the vehicle of the personnel shift of the Passport and Visa Department of the police, resulting in the death of three police officers: Lieutenant Colonel Armen Maiori Babayan, Major David Valeri Danielyan, and Lieutenant Ararat Telman Gasparyan. Another officer, Lieutenant David Ashot Hovsepyan, sustained gunshot wounds and is currently under the care of doctors at the republican medical center.
