Compensation for Utilities Expenses of Residents in Border Communities
The residents of 82 communities in 5 border provinces of Armenia will receive a total of 973,672,600 dram from the state budget for compensation of their utility expenses incurred in 2022. This decision was made during a governmental meeting today.
The allocated funds will cover the annual costs of natural gas, electricity, irrigation water tariffs, and property tax payments for residents in border areas.
The compensation procedure for utility payments was established back in 2014, and since then, the list of eligible communities has been revised multiple times, notably after the 2020 war, when the number of border communities increased.
In 2021, 81 communities received compensation under the same program. The total budget for the program a year ago was 1 billion 155 million dram. Compared to the previous year, the number of beneficiary communities has increased by one, while the total funding amount has decreased by 181 million dram.
