Peskov Highlights the Role of the US as a Provocateur State in Response to Nuland's Statement
The remarks regarding Crimea as a legitimate military target for Kyiv underscore the depth of disagreements between the US and Russia and the roles of the states as primary provocateurs of international tension. This statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Victoria Nuland, the US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs, stated that the US supports Ukraine's efforts to strike military facilities located in Crimea, labeling them as "legitimate targets." According to her, Ukraine will not find security if Crimea is "at least demilitarized."
“Ms. Nuland belongs to the expansive camp of the more aggressive bases in American politics. Yes, this is a well-known point of view to us,” he said during an interview on the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin,” a segment of which was published by Pavel Zarubin on his Telegram channel.
It is noteworthy that on the early morning of February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to initiate a special military operation against Ukraine at the request of the LPR and DPR for assistance. Combat operations in Ukraine have been ongoing to this day.
