Aliyev: 'We Offered Armenia to Install a Checkpoint at the Border'
The meeting between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has just concluded. During the meeting, they discussed the ongoing work on the peace treaty draft, the unblocking of regional transport infrastructure, and the implementation of delimitation between the two countries, according to the agreements reached in Prague.
In a conversation with reporters, Aliyev provided details from the discussions and spoke about their demands. He stated, 'The meeting was constructive. The peace agreement should be based on international norms and principles, and any provisions regarding Nagorno-Karabakh are unacceptable. Three days ago, we received Armenia's response to our proposals. At first glance, there is progress in Armenia's position, but we do not consider this sufficient.'
'We have offered Armenia to install a checkpoint on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. If we are talking about delimitation, then these checkpoints should also be installed between Lachin and Armenia,' Aliyev added.
It is noteworthy that the meeting took place within the framework of the Munich Security Conference.
