Georgian ruling party comments on the situation surrounding Saakashvili
The ruling party of Georgia has commented on the appeal made by former President Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyers, who have decided to file a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights. This was reported by Sputnik Georgia.
“If even once the court allows a precedent where a person artificially loses weight, and that becomes the basis for their release, then no prison will be able to operate,” said Irakli Kobakhidze, the leader of the Georgian Dream party.
It is worth noting that Saakashvili's lawyers have decided to approach the European Court of Human Rights after the court rejected the former president's request for release or postponement on health grounds.
