Zelensky Announces Unilateral Decision to Abandon Minsk Agreements
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced a unilateral decision to abandon the Minsk agreements, according to Говорит Москва. It is noted that this document was signed in February 2015 by the leaders of Germany, Russia, France, Ukraine, as well as the leaders of the DPR and LPR.
In an interview with Spiegel, Zelensky stated that he made the decision to not adhere to the conditions established by the UN Security Council resolution. “I told Emmanuel Macron and Angela Merkel that we would not be able to implement them,” Zelensky said. He noted that the same message was conveyed to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a separate interview with French publication Le Figaro, Zelensky emphasized that the Minsk agreements represent “concessions to Russia,” and that it is “impossible” to implement them.
