Women to Have Opportunity for 6 Months of Military Service, Says Pashinyan

We will provide the opportunity for women to voluntarily undergo six months of military service, after which they too can enter into longer-term service under the logic of "Defending the Fatherland". Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this during a government meeting.

Pashinyan asked Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan when women could submit applications for the six-month military service.

"We will do everything to ensure that we can accommodate them for the winter draft; I can’t say whether we will make it for the summer draft, as it all depends on our speed," replied Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan.

"We have set the task to establish new and updated infrastructure for our women so that we can start this process with new content and freshness; it is a new page for them," Pashinyan responded.
