Azerbaijan Must Stop Protests in Lachin, International Human Rights Organization

The statement from the German branch of the International Human Rights Organization notes that for 57 days, around 120,000 Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh have been blocked by Azerbaijani “activists” and soldiers.

“We have learned that 19 children, who were recently allowed to return home, have been subjected to mistreatment and persecution. During their transport by Russian forces, the convoy was halted, and Azerbaijani “environmentalists” boarded the vehicles. They illegally filmed the children and subjected them to psychological abuse, resulting in one child losing consciousness,” the statement reads.

Azerbaijan must cease organizing and supporting “protests” that obstruct free movement in both directions through the Lachin corridor, the organization emphasizes. According to the organization, Azerbaijan shows no signs that the road will reopen in the near future.

It is noted that although the International Red Cross has managed to bring several tons of food and medicine to the region before Christmas, the sole access road remains blocked.

According to the organization's leader, Jonathan Spangenberg, Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh want to live and stay there. To prevent a humanitarian disaster, the president of the International Human Rights Organization expects clear words from the German government, especially as the threat of military deployment is increasing day by day.
