EU Member States Ready to Assist Turkey and Syria
EU member states are prepared to assist Turkey and Syria following the earthquake that resulted in numerous casualties and injuries in both countries, announced Sweden's Foreign Minister Tobias Billström, who is currently presiding over the EU Council.
Italy's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also stated that his country is ready to send civil protection specialists to Turkey to help address the aftermath of the earthquake. Tajani expressed his support for the Syrian people, who are suffering yet another severe blow after years of war.
Reports indicate that the airports in Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep have suspended commercial flights, while major airports in Ankara, Antalya, and Istanbul continue to operate.
