Germany's Ambassador Summoned by Turkey's Foreign Ministry Alongside Other Diplomats
The German ambassador in Turkey has been summoned by the Foreign Ministry, along with diplomats from various other countries. This was confirmed to reporters by Andrea Zassen, a representative of Germany's Foreign Ministry.
“I can confirm that our ambassador has been summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry for a discussion along with other diplomatic partners,” Zassen stated during a press briefing.
According to her, the summons was triggered by reports of terrorist threats following the closure of Germany's consulate general in Istanbul. She clarified that German diplomatic missions located in other Turkish cities remain open.
Earlier, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu commented on the situation regarding the closure of consulates of several Western countries in Istanbul, stating that it is difficult to refer to those countries as allies and friends.
Additionally, the consulates of Sweden, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, and Germany in Istanbul have announced that they have halted accepting visitors due to the threat of terrorist attacks in the city center.
