Has the Civil Contract Discussed Whose Candidacy to Nominate for the Ombudsman's Position? Julhakyan Responds
The National Assembly of Armenia is conducting discussions on various candidates for the position of Human Rights Defender. This was stated by Arusyak Julhakyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, during a briefing with reporters in parliament, addressing the question of whether the Civil Contract has discussed whose candidacy should be nominated.
“Discussions have taken place. And, as far as I know, we still do not have a decision at this time,” Julhakyan said, assuring that if a decision is made, they will properly announce it.
Responding to a journalist's remark that her name is also circulating as a candidate, Julhakyan said it was the first time she was hearing about it.
It should be noted that Kristine Grigoryan submitted her resignation from the position of Ombudsman to the National Assembly on January 23, in accordance with the legally established procedure, due to taking another job. Kristine Grigoryan reiterated her resignation on January 24. On January 24, the National Assembly accepted Grigoryan's resignation.
