Moldova Finds It Unreasonable to Maintain Membership in the CIS
Moldovan authorities do not see engaging processes within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that would interest the country. This was reported by Sputnik Moldova, citing a statement from the country's Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicolae Popescu.
According to him, the Moldovan government is analyzing the necessity of maintaining agreements within the CIS framework.
"In the CIS, we do not see processes that correspond to the interests of the Republic of Moldova... Since 2006, there have been issues regarding the availability of our goods, and there are trade restrictions related to our exports," Popescu stated.
He noted that the CIS has become less relevant for Chișinău. "We are currently analyzing the necessity of maintaining certain agreements that Moldova has signed within this organization," he added.
