Prosecutor Refuses to Send Case Involving MP to Court: 'Haykakan Zham' Reports
'Haykakan Zham' newspaper reports. A notable situation has arisen regarding the case involving the incident with the MP from the 'My Step' faction, Sisak Gabrielyan, and citizens. According to 'Haykakan Zham,' the prosecutor is refusing to sign and send the case to court, resulting in the case being referred back to the preliminary investigation body for further inquiry.
According to information received, the case had even reached the court but was returned from there to the preliminary investigation body for further investigation.
What incident is being discussed? As is known, on December 28, 2020, an incident took place near the entrance of the National Assembly on Demirchyan Street, between the MPs of the 'My Step' faction and citizens conducting a protest. A video surfaced online showing citizens blocking the path of Sisak Gabrielyan's car. Citizens were heard making statements such as, 'Who is Paul?' and 'He is going to get his bonus,' and similar remarks when Gabrielyan angrily exited his vehicle, leading to a scuffle during which mutual insults were exchanged.
The video shows Gabrielyan hitting and pulling one of the citizens, who is later seen lying on the ground. It has now been two years since the preliminary investigation has been ongoing regarding this case. Sisak Gabrielyan is a victim, while the only accused is Ashot Simonyan, a member of the ARF Bureau and former governor of Aragatsotn. Notably, Simonyan has requested permission from law enforcement to leave the country, but for two years he has been unable to do so, and the preliminary investigation has been shuffled around.
The situation does not end there; it has been decided to transfer this case from the Anti-Corruption Committee to the investigative division of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in Arabkir.
