Gagik Tsarukyan Issues a Statement
Gagik Tsarukyan, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, has issued a statement expressing concern over the encouragement of anti-Russian sentiments in Armenia.
The statement reads: “We are currently in a historically difficult and highly responsible period. The extreme danger of the situation necessitates speaking openly—without any conditions or hidden meanings. It is evident today that anti-Russian sentiments are being encouraged in Armenia. This should concern any Armenian who cares about our security.”
“The small but proud security of Artsakh is currently ensured solely by Russian peacekeepers. The authors of the anti-Russian campaign are simply exposing the 150,000 Artsakh Armenians to the threat of physical annihilation. Do they understand this, or do they not care?”
“The various demarches against Russia and the thoughtless statements and actions could also lead to the collapse of the Armenian economy. Do they understand this, or is it the same for them?”
“Is there awareness that Russia is the main market for exports, and that tens of thousands of Armenian families depend on the opportunity to work in Russia? Is there awareness that Armenia's energy system is completely dependent on Russian energy resources?”
“All parties, all political forces, and all parliaments are transient. National interests are enduring. We cannot put the safety of the state and the people and economic stability at risk.”
“Of course, Armenia should have good relations with the West, and with its neighbors, but this cannot be within the logic of ‘against Russia.’ Armenia must continue to develop its strategic relations with Russia.”
“We need mutual trust, serious joint projects, a practical working atmosphere, and the will to resolve emerging issues quickly and in a working environment. This should be at the core of Armenian-Russian relations.”
“I am confident that our people correctly assess the historical risks, and with their wisdom and prudence will be able to avoid the worst developments.”
