Pope Francis Appeals to Putin and Zelensky
Pope Francis has addressed the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky, urging an end to the conflict and a shift towards peaceful dialogue. This was reported by TASS.
The Pope made this statement today: “I implore the President of Russia to stop the war, also out of love for his own people. I also call on the President of Ukraine to remain open to various peaceful proposals. I urge all other representatives of the international community to do everything possible to end the war,” he stated.
According to the Pope, the turn of events in the Ukraine conflict is catastrophic and dangerous, raising significant concerns.
It is worth recalling that on the morning of February 24, Russia launched a special military operation aimed at the demilitarization and blockade of Ukraine. President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine has accused Moscow of attacking the country's military infrastructure and has imposed martial law across the entire territory of Ukraine, severing diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation.
