8 NATO Countries Support Ukraine's Membership in the Alliance
Romanian leader Klaus Iohannis has signed a joint statement with the heads of seven other NATO member states from Central and Eastern Europe, expressing support for Ukraine's accession to the alliance. The relevant message was posted on the Romanian president's Twitter account.
“We firmly support the decision made at the NATO summit in Bucharest in 2008 regarding Ukraine's future membership,” the document states, which is published on the presidential administration's website.
The Romanian leader's stance is shared by the leaders of Poland, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Estonia.
It should be noted that Zelensky has declared that Ukraine is applying for accelerated membership in NATO.
