Biden and Macron to Meet at the White House
President Joe Biden will host French President Emmanuel Macron at the White House, who will be in the United States for a state visit on December 1, marking a return to tradition disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We would like to announce that President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden will welcome French President Emmanuel Macron and Mrs. Brigitte Macron during the state visit on December 1, 2022. This will be the first state visit of the Biden-Harris administration,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The state visit, which will include a state dinner, “will underscore the deep and enduring relationships between the United States and France, our longstanding ally,” she noted. She acknowledged that “Covid has certainly canceled many in-person events that the President traditionally hosted at the White House.”
